Earn royalties on background music!
We distribute your music and pay you!
Earn royalties from Soundreef In-Store when your music is played as background music for businesses in almost every country in the world. Our fair and transparent system shows you exactly how much your music has been played and how much you’ve earned.
What does Soundreef do?
Soundreef is a progressive and efficient music rights management company.
Soundreef In-Store provides high quality background music for every type of business – from supermarkets, malls and restaurants to electronics, clothing and furniture shops and more. As well as providing the music, we gather and distribute royalties for it.
Soundreef Live provides music licenses for live events, and gathers and distributes the royalties for the music they use. This service is currently only available in Italy, but will be available in other countries soon.
In the past, businesses who wanted to play background music had to pay various different copyright collection societies (depending on where they were based) in order to play music to their customers and staff. In many countries, these collecting societies had a monopoly on collecting royalties, but this has changed: Soundreef can now offer both musicians and businesses a more efficient and transparent alternative to the traditional system. When you register your tracks with Soundreef, you can see exactly how much your music has been played, how much you have earned and how much you will be paid.
Does Soundreef act as an intermediary for other copyright collection societies such as ASCAP, BMI, SIAE, GEMA, BUMA/STEMRA and STIM?
No, we compete with other collection societies.
In one simple package, Soundreef In-Store administers both publishing rights (copyright and composition rights) and master recording rights (related and neighbouring rights) for background music used by the businesses who subscribe to our service.
Soundreef Live offers a fast, efficient and fair way of getting a music licence for a live event in Italy. We pay musicians quickly and fairly while saving live event organisers up to 50% on what they would usually have to pay for a licence from SIAE.
What territories does Soundreef collect publishing and master rights for?
Soundreef works with artists and right holders all over the world. We started out by collecting royalties for music played in stores in Europe, but we now cover the whole world, excluding only the US and Canada. You can choose where you would like each song to be licensed when you register it.
Can Soundreef manage all my royalties? Do you manage royalties for online streaming, performance and other uses of my music? Will Soundreef start collecting digital royalties in the future?
At the moment Soundreef only deals with royalties for music used as background music by businesses and music used for live events in Italy. We’re hoping to be able to offer to manage other types of royalties, such as online streaming, but this is still in development.
What type of music does Soundreef broadcast, and what kind of music can I register with you?
Soundreef Live accepts every type of music – from half-hour prog outs to one minute hardcore punk tracks via pop rock, lounge and dance – but Soundreef In-Store has to be a bit more restrictive. It’s not that we don’t like death metal, it’s just that shoppers tend to prefer something more relaxed while they’re choosing their breakfast cereal and comparing detergents.
We feature over 170,000 songs, covering a wide range of genres such as rock, pop, lounge, house, jazz and classical. All the songs in our music library are professionally recorded. Our Music Supervisors listen to every track that is submitted to us to make sure that it meets our quality standards, and that it is suitable for background use. We use both vocal and instrumental tracks, and we prefer to work with pop-rock, lounge and chill out, R&B and soul, electronica and ambient, dance and house, classical and jazz.
